The latest edition of the VerdeDrive newsletter highlights ongoing research into the production and performance of biodiesel blends derived from unconventional feedstocks. By investigating materials such as cherry pits, cottonseed oil, and orange peel, the project aims to demonstrate how agricultural by-products can contribute to a more circular and sustainable bioeconomy.
A key focus of the research is evaluating how these biodiesel blends perform in real compression-ignition engines. Researchers are assessing critical parameters such as combustion characteristics, engine efficiency, and emissions in order to better understand the potential of these alternative fuels for future transport applications.

Funded by the European Union, VerdeDrive brings together nine partners from six countries, combining expertise from research institutions, universities, and industry to address the challenges of developing next-generation biofuels.
